Learn the basics and beyond from Pinhole Quilting's Liz and Handi Quilter Educator Abigail Sheridan de Graaff. This class is designed for Handi Quilter longarm machine owners who are new to their machine, had training when their machine was installed and are ready to go further or for those looking for a refresher of the basics.

The course cost is £120. If you purchased your machine from Pinhole Quilting you may have received a Foundation Workshop Code which discounts the cost to zero. Please contact us if you have not received your code and think you should have done.

TNT - Thread, Needles and Tension - Learn and improve on this essential skill. How to use different types and weight of thread and reduce your own "tension" in the process!

We'll discuss needles and needle sizes, thread weight, types and ply, horizontal spool pin, bobbins - winding your own and prewounds.

Techniques specific to machines:

  • Capri / Sweet Sixteen / Pfaff Powerquilter Owners - managing large quilts and quilting techniques using Tru Stitch stitch regulator, gloves, Sweet Spots and Handi Quilter Paddles

  • Simply Sixteen, Avante, Amara, Forte and Infinity Owners - how to load onto the Little Foot Frame or Studio Frame

  • Free motion quilting designs

  • Ruler work

  • Demonstration of some of the other accessories available including Handi Feet, Pantographs, Groovy Boards and Pro Stitcher. We select from these depending on the needs of the group.

Most of our owners will have a FREE Foundation Workshop included within the cost of their machine. It's a really worthwhile investment of time to ensure that you make most use of your machine.

In a recent survey 100% of attendees rated this course 100% for whether they would recommend the course to others and how they would rate the course!

Here's what previous attendees have said they liked most about the Foundation Workshop:

The friendly atmosphere and the inspiration from the other attendees. The informal presentation but with complete professionalism. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and as a complete novice found it instructional and inspiring. Thank you to Liz, Abigail and Pete, who were very patient with my questions!

Based the training on the needs of the group and supplied the course materials for reference, lots of products available to try out. Plenty of tips and encouragement. The group were also very friendly and helpful.

A good mix of theory and practical with plenty of opportunity to make quilting friends. It inspired me to try new things as soon as I got home. I will attend Improv Quilting in the future for sure.

Being able to fully understand the full range of what is available

I liked the easy, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere. It was a great opportunity to meet other longarm quilters and to learn from their comments and questions. I was also interested in seeing all the longarm accessories available.
